Bring us a trip that doesn't exist yet.

We'll put it together with you, at the end of the Carretera Austral.

For groups, families and special requests. We bring together what rarely comes together out here: e-bikes, boats, refuges, a border and the families who live along the route.

The barrier

Out here, the hard part isn't getting here. It's linking everything together.

The boat runs on certain days and depends on the wind. The border is crossed on foot or by bike. The beds don't show up on any booking site, and luggage sometimes travels on horseback. Every piece exists; what almost nobody knows is how to put them together.

We're based in Villa O'Higgins and we put them together every season. That's why we can design a trip that fits Patagonia and its rhythms, and yours too.

We don't tame the remote: we move with it.

A tailor-made trip · Ecotrek Patagonia 2025

A Buddhist group from Bhutan wanted to meditate at the end of the world.

In 2025, they wrote to us with an idea that wasn't in any catalog: walk through Patagonia and find places for silence. It was a large group, from Bhutan and other countries.

We adapted the routes to their pace, found quiet corners to meditate and handled all the logistics. The itinerary combined mountains, culture and silence.

We made it happen.

It was the first time a Lama reached the far end of the Carretera Austral. And it was a trip that changed us too, and the families who hosted them.

What we build with

The pieces of every trip.

They all exist, and we know them by heart. Your trip comes from combining them.

How we build it

This is how we build it with you.

We have no fixed departures or set packages. Every trip starts with a conversation.

  1. 1

    You tell us

Who's traveling, when, at what pace and what you're looking for. The more you tell us, the better.

  2. 2

We think it through with Patagonia

We put together a proposal with the boat days, the beds, the legs and the plan B for when the weather changes its mind.

  3. 3

    We fine-tune it together

We change whatever it takes until the trip is yours.

  4. 4

    We're with you

Before, during and after. We're here, on the ground, to make the trip happen.

It's for you if…

  • You're traveling as a group and everyone has their own pace.
  • You want to see the remote far end of the Carretera Austral in a different way.
  • You're looking for more than scenery: silence, culture, a cause.
  • You want to reach El Chaltén the way few people do.

Our flagship adventure

Does your trip go through El Chaltén?

The Villa O'Higgins – El Chaltén crossing is where we started, and we run it together with Ruedas de la Patagonia. It can be the heart of your trip or one part of it.

Questions

What people always ask us.

Do you have fixed departures?

No. Every trip is built around your dates, your pace and your group. There are no set packages.

How much does a tailor-made trip cost?

It depends on how many of you there are, how many days you have and which pieces you choose. Tell us your idea and we'll send you a detailed proposal.

When can you travel?

High season runs from September to April, but over the last three years more and more travelers have been coming to Villa O'Higgins outside those months, to see its other rhythm.

For the binational Villa O'Higgins–El Chaltén crossing, the boat season runs from November 1 to March 30. If you're thinking of other dates, ask us and we'll see what can be done.

Can kids come?

Yes. On the crossing, with their parents and their paperwork in order; the level is moderate. We plan the route so a group of different ages moves forward together.

What if the weather changes the plan?

Out here, weather still sets the rules. That's why every proposal comes with its plan B worked out in advance, and on the full crossing the waiting night is already built in.

How do I get to Villa O'Higgins?

Along the Carretera Austral, by bus from Cochrane or by ferry from Puerto Natales. We walk you through it step by step in how to get to Villa O'Higgins.

Do you work with agencies?

Yes. If you have a group for your clients, Travel Trade has what you need to start the conversation.

Tell us what you want to do.

Who's traveling, when, and what you're dreaming of. That's where we start. Someone from the team will reply, from Villa O'Higgins.
